Uruguay, which means River of Birds, is a tiny country, sandwiched between the neighbouring giants of Brazil and Argentina, which still remains an undiscovered travel gem. Approximately 90% of Uruguay's land is used for cattle and sheep grazing, and Uruguay has its own version of the Gaucho, who are a colourful and important part of Uruguayan society and labour force. The country also boasts a fully fledged world class resort at Punta del Este, where from December to April the lifestyle is reminiscent of Monte Carlo in the French Riviera. |
